Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter

The state of Chu, early autumn, rippling waves, the waning moon rising.

Qin Jiao was alone, looking at the dim moon and sighing.

From a medical family, skilled in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pulse diagnosis and Western surgery.

In his twenties, he was already a renowned forensic pathologist.

Yesterday, I inexplicably found myself transported to the Chu state. This drowning victim with the same name as me met his demise.

The original owner was the legitimate daughter of a marquis, but due to her mother's death, she was abandoned outside. A few days ago, someone from the marquis's mansion came to take her back to the capital, but halfway there they suffocated her and threw her body into the river. She was rescued by a kindhearted boatman.

Qinjiao's gaze is resolute.

Qin Jiao was stunned. The boat's movement clearly told her that the ship had already left the shore!

Qin Jiao just remembered, but she was pressed down by the stranger, a bone-chilling coldness on her neck.

A man's deep voice sounded in her ear: "Don't!"

Qin Jiao clearly felt the coldness of a dagger pressed against her carotid artery. She was so frightened that her breath almost stopped, and her heart pounded in her chest.

Chu Yunyi's eyes were deep, he glanced at the bank that was now empty.

A man disguised as Qin Jiao ignited the oil lamps in the ship's cabin.

Chu Yun Yi untied his robes, revealing a gruesome sight. A gash about six inches long ran across his shoulder, deep enough to see bone. The wound was raw and bloody, oozing with crimson. It looked horrifyingly fierce and terrifying.

Qin Jiao curled her lip.

Well done, you're tough on yourself!

It wasn't until I habitually reached for my side, that I realized I had crossed over. I didn't even have a [weapon] to save people!

Qin Jiao's heart skipped a beat, and suddenly a silver flash appeared before her eyes. A stainless steel anatomical dissection tool she often used materialized out of thin air right in front of her.

"Damn! What's going on?"

Qin Jiao stared in disbelief.

I quickly glanced at the man in front of me. Fortunately, he was turning his head to look elsewhere and didn't notice.

Qin Jiao's heart hammered in her chest. She pulled the blanket over herself, then quickly lifted it to retrieve those things from underneath and started tending to her wounds.

Qin Jiao burned a little with the candle flame before speaking to Chu Yunyi.

"Hey, do you have any medicine?"

Chu Yunyi remained silent, taking a porcelain bottle from his bosom and placing it on the deck of the boat.

Qin Jiao ceased speaking, moved the oil lamp to a suitable place, and in that way, she threaded needles for him.

An accomplished ninja, his face remained unchanged.

He's quick and focused.

In the silent cabin, besides the sound of their breathing, there was only the strange "swoosh" of the needle piercing through the skin.

Due to the darkness of the line, Qin Jiao widened her eyes, concentrating all her attention. It took a full hour before she managed to complete it, tying a beautiful knot.

Then, apply medicine and bandage it all at once.

Qin Jiao gently exhaled, rubbed her eyes, which were weary from work, and tidied up her things.

"Don't do any strenuous exercise, be careful not to open the wound. It will take about a week to heal."

"Mmm!" Chu Yunyi replied softly, buttoning his shirt carefully and looking at Qin Jiao.

"What's your name?" Chu Yunyi broke the silence first.

"Qin jiao."

Where are you from?

"Win the state."

"What's up?"

Chu Yuyi hesitated for a moment, "Yuyi."

"The wound has healed, and I need to change the dressing every day."

"Um! Got it!"

Chu Yunyi softly replied with a sound, then lay on the deck of the ship, closing his eyes to cultivate.

"Why are you still here?"

Qin Jiao saw that he had no intention of leaving and couldn't help but speak up.

"Danger!" Chu Yiyuan was no match for the mountain.

Qin Jiao frowned and quietly shifted her position in the hold of the ship, to another corner.

As dawn breaks, the boat drifts with the water and runs aground on the shore.

Qin Jiao opened her eyes, climbed out of the hold, and looked up. On the beach on the shore, there was a figure, lying there unconscious, whether dead or alive unknown.

Qin Jiao's eyes widened, a flash of surprise passing through them. She hurriedly pulled up her skirt and jumped off the boat, quickly walking to the riverbank and reaching out with her hand. The corpse was already stiff.

Qin Jiao checked his back, then flipped the body over. It was a middle-aged man. He had a slightly open mouth, wide eyes, and an expression of unbelievable astonishment on his face. His abdomen was distended, and when she lightly patted it, there was a dull "thump" sound!

There was a trace of light red froth coming from his nostrils, and there were scratches on his hands. His feet were still wearing shoes, and his hair was in disarray.

Qin Jiao forcefully pried it open and found that the mouth still had mud, sand, and moss.

Chu Yunyi stepped out of the cabin and was immediately struck by the astonishing sight. A slender figure, clad in a wide robe, with their feet crossed and delicate hands, was delicately fiddling with a corpse.

The morning light bathed upon her face, with no adornment of rouge or powder. Her brows curved gracefully, her teeth a delicate blend of red and white, her spirit clear and her bones refined. She was indeed a vision of ethereal beauty.

Every gesture, every movement of theirs
was imbued with a sacred aura,
making one afraid to even breathe.

Chu Yun Yi's devilishly handsome face flashed a hint of surprise, his narrow eyes widening.

This was a young man dressed as a male, who could also perform autopsies?

Chu Yunyi was surprised by his own thoughts.

Chu Yunyi's narrow eyes flashed a hint of divine light. Who is this person? Where did he come from?

Chu Yunyì's heart flashed a moment of doubt.

He slowly walked to Qin Jiao's side.

"Will you perform an autopsy?"

Qin Jiao was intently examining the corpse. Hearing the sound, she raised her head and glanced at him, only humming softly in response.

"Do you know him?"

Chu Yunyi nodded in agreement.

Qin Jiao raised her eyes and glanced at him: "Looking at your attire, you must be an accountant from a wealthy family, right?"

"Yes! You're right."

Qin Jiao's investigation of him was oblivious, pointing to the corpse and stating the facts plainly.

"This is not the primary crime scene; he drowned upstream and floated down."
