At three o'clock in the afternoon, we slowly entered the familiar village by bus.

The sun slanted, shining on the rooftops and mountain peaks in opposite directions. Looking at the familiar buildings, happiness surged through me. Outside the car window, I just passed the big building of the village committee, and immediately knew that there was a fenced vegetable plot next to it. The vegetables in the field were no longer vibrant with life. Patches of yellow leaves had been plucked by diligent grandmothers. However, in the middle, autumn's weeds remained withered, and winter's biting wind whistled through the bare branches, bringing with it a sense of desolation.

Step by step, we drove closer to my memories. We got off the bus at another village entrance.

A gust of wind blew past, and I closed my eyes to savor the familiar scent. My hair danced in the breeze, tickling my forehead.

I walked in front, watching a familiar uncle walk by, I was overjoyed and no longer shy. I greeted him enthusiastically in dialect, "Uncle, what are you going to do?"

"Go and cut some grass," replied my uncle enthusiastically. Then he walked closer and looked at me, as if trying to remember something. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he said, "Oh! You're the grandson of Elder Qin from the village above, aren't you?"

I smiled and nodded, "So Uncle still remembers me!"

"Of course, your grandfather often brought you here to play, and you're good friends with my little Zhe. It's been years since we last saw you, you've grown so tall! I wonder if he still remembers you!"

"Uncle, you must remember! I met him every time I went home last few times."

Uncle Gao's happy expression: "No wonder he said several times that you were back, I didn't see it."

Leng Yang stood beside me with an unfamiliar expression, not interfering with our conversation, his head bowed, staring at his phone.

I saw his discomfort, and then said: "Uncle, do you know him?"

"Can't you tell? Do I look familiar to you?"

I shouted, "Leng Yang, come here."

Uncle's face was shocked, "His name is Leng Yang, he is..."

I was delighted. "Yes, uncle, he is the grandson of Grandpa Leng!"

Uncle's face lit up with joy: "Oh! I understand now." Uncle walked to Leng Yang's front and looked at him with a look of satisfaction. Leng Yang seemed a bit embarrassed.

Uncle pulled Lengyang's hand, "Child, I'm your Zhao uncle! You don't remember me, when you were little you often came to my house with your grandpa to buy wine!"

Leng Yang sat there for a moment, some scenes flashing through his mind. He remembered plump Uncle Zhao running a grain and wine shop, with many people going to buy alcohol there. Uncle Zhao would always generously offer everyone drinks. As children grew up and moved away, he still prepared plenty of candy. Whenever kids came by, he would happily entertain them, so both adults and children liked him. His house was always lively and bustling.

Leng Yang was a little puzzled and then looked at the familiar eyes with hesitation, "Uncle Zhao?"

Uncle nodded excitedly, then patted his hand and said: "Child, since your grandfather's passing, you haven't come back. Uncle prepared candies for you, but Xiao Meng ate them all."

"But, Uncle Zhao, why have you lost so much weight?" said Leng Yang in puzzlement.

Looking at this heartwarming scene before me, my heart feels warm.

Uncle laughed and said, “Didn't you have a serious illness a few years ago? You lost a lot of weight.”

Leng Yang immediately worried and asked, "What's wrong? Are you okay now?"

Uncle's heartwarming reply: "Okay, that's perfectly fine."

Both I and Lengyang nodded in reassurance.

Then, the uncle enthusiastically said, "It's been a long time since we've gotten together. Let's go to my place! Xiao Zhe is at home too!" He then turned to Leng Yang and said, "Oh! You haven't met Xiao Zhe yet. This is a great chance to get acquainted!"

Leng Yang smiled and declined, it was clear that Leng Yang was on the verge of breaking down. I knew he didn't like these kinds of formalities. So I walked up and said: "Uncle, let's go home first, my grandpa is waiting for us at home. The old man will be worried if we don't come back soon. Let's go back first, and we can visit again another day!"

Uncle nodded in agreement: "Well, your grandpa is old and worries a lot. Go home quickly! Remember to visit when you have time!"

I nodded and we said our goodbyes. I watched him walk away, his hunched back getting more and more stooped as he carried the basket on his back. I was still imagining myself sleeping on his back in the past.

Leng Yang carried his suitcase and said, "Let's go!" Then he suddenly turned back and saw me still standing there watching Uncle's figure. He walked over and patted my shoulder and said, "Come on, Grandpa Qin is waiting anxiously."

I turned and smiled at him, nodded, then walked beside him obediently.

From here to our village is still quite a distance. If we walk slowly, it'll take about half an hour. I saw that Leng Yang looked a little tired, so I took my suitcase and said, "You look tired too, let me pull it. It's not heavy anyway, and my leg is fine now."

Leng Yang finally compromised: "Alright."

I intentionally walked in front, letting Leng Yang see that I could do it.

I came to a fork in the road and turned to ask, "Leng Yang, do you remember which way we took back in our village?"

Leng Yang looked up at the mountain peak and then confidently answered, "Straight ahead."

My expression of surprise: "How did you know that? There was only one road here when I was a child! Then the village roads were built, and then everyone built two more roads."

Leng Yang smiled and said, "I've lived here for several years after all! Even if the house has changed, the mountains haven't!"

"How about that?"

Leng Yang looked at me with a smile, then his eyes moved upwards and he gave a wry smile as he looked at the mushroom-shaped mountain. His eyes were full of longing. I patted his shoulder comfortingly and said, "It's alright! It's good to be back."

Leng Yang swallowed hard and nodded, bravely trying to make light of it: "Because Grandpa always told me that the noodle shop at the foot of that mountain was our home, and that mountain was our belonging."

I smiled at him and said, "Yes, you still remember. When you were little, you told me the same thing. You said, 'The hill under the mushroom will always be our home, don't ever get lost.' Because of your words, no matter how much the village changed, I never took a wrong turn."

Láng Yáng smiled and said to me, "Let's go home."

"Hmm."

After a while, my feet started to ache. Maybe I had rubbed or twisted something. They were starting to protest against walking. I only realized the soreness afterward, so I suggested a rest.

Sitting on a large rock under the opening of the Stone Gate, I gasped for breath. Leng Yang took out water from his bag and handed it to me, "Drink some water."

After walking for a while, I felt sweat all over my body. Thankfully, the small wound on my right hand had scabbed over, or it would have been so painful when it came into contact with sweat. I picked up some water and drank half the bottle....

Leng Yang stood up and looked around at the scenery. "It doesn't seem like much has changed! Everything is still familiar."

"Indeed."

"Want to go?"

I extended my right hand, "Pull me up."

Leng Yang's careful hands gripped my arm and pulled me up. "Let's go!"

I suddenly started complaining: "What's the matter, I don't want to leave."

Lèng Yáng happened to hear it, then pushed his suitcase over and said gently, "Didn't you get enough rest?"

I shake my head.

L?ng Yang instantly understood and pushed her suitcase to me, a little apologetic as she said, "My leg hurts, I shouldn't have let you pull the suitcase. It's really bad now!"

I felt a pang of sympathy for her and comforted her, saying: "This path was always meant to be walked, and no one is at fault. I'll just rest for a bit."

Leng Yang supported me, "Sit on the suitcase, I'll push you home."

I refuse to walk. "How is that possible? This is uphill, and you have a suitcase."

"I can, I'm strong. You should go home and see how serious it is." Leng Yang insisted on half-pushing and half-carrying me onto the suitcase.

Fortunately, this was a flat road. After pushing for a few meters, I immediately called out to Leng Yang and said, "Wait, Leng Yang, let me call my grandpa first. I'm afraid he'll be worried."

Leng Yang stopped, he dialed his grandpa's number, and a burst of horn sounded. Leng Yang immediately looked up, and at the bend in the road ahead, a three-wheeled motorcycle appeared.

I hung up the phone and excitedly told Leng Yang, “That’s great, Leng Yang, Grandpa said he called someone to pick us up in a tricycle.”

Leng Yang looked at me in surprise and said, "It can't be that one, right?"

I watched the tricycle getting closer and closer. I saw it was Brother Dayong. I waved to him immediately, and Brother Dayong braked and said, “Oh my! Luckily I got here early! Your grandpa always says you haven't finished work yet, and you almost had to go back home!”

We smiled as we watched him.

Zhang Dayong immediately got out of the car and moved our suitcases into the trunk. Then, holding my suitcase, he hesitated for a moment, as if preparing to say something. Leng Yang had already put his suitcase in.

Zhang Dayong became excited: "Oh, you guys are really fast! I was worried about getting your suitcases dirty! They're all covered in mud." Then he put the suitcase back on the ground and said to Leng Yang, "How can you be so reckless? You're so messy! And how did you move so quickly?"

Leng Yang said happily, "Da Yong ge, you're too heavy! You didn't help me lift it first."

Zhang Dayong awkwardly smiled and then walked up to me, saying: "Amazing! Is this your friend? Why is he so outgoing! He called me 'Big Brother Zhang' right away."

I was laughing, and Leng Yang was smiling next to me. I explained, "Big Yongge, he's always called you that."

"An?" Zhang Dayong looked at me and Leng Yang with a puzzled expression.

Leng Yang dressed in a cold manner, walked forward and said: "Da Yong ge, it's only been a few years! You don't even recognize me anymore."

Zhang Dayong's brow furrowed with wrinkles, and he then asked in confusion, "Do I know you from before?"

I nodded to Leng Yang.

Zhang Dayong said half-believingly, "Well, but you're the same size as Xing Yi. You can call me Big Brother Yong."

Leng Yang sighed helplessly, "Big Yongge, it's me! I'm Leng Yang, the little student who said he wanted to beat you before!"

"An?" Zhang Dayong stepped forward and looked closely at Leng Yang, "Are you Leng Yang?" Then he looked at me, I nodded, Zhang Dayong reached out and patted Leng Yang's head and said: "It's been years, you've grown so tall, you're even taller than me."

Leng Yang was hit and his head tilted to the side. He immediately put his hand on his head and said in a fake pitiful tone: "Ah! It hurts, Da Yongge, you're so big and you still hit me."

Zhang Dayong teased, "What pain? I didn't even use any force. What's wrong with you, aren't you still smaller than me? Why grow so tall?"

Leng Yang said with a smile, "Of course, to defeat Big Yongge?"

Zhang Dayong looked at him smiling and said, "Well done, you've actually beaten your older brother now."

Then he said, "Wait a minute, I'll find something to deal with this mud."

I immediately carried my suitcase upstairs and closed the door, saying, "Big Yongge, you don't need to, it's not dirty."

Zhang Dayong turned back, shook his head helplessly and said softly, "These two children, just as stubborn."

In the car, I asked: "Big Yong, didn't you go out to work this year?"

Zhang Dayong nodded. "This year, my wife and I have been farming at home. We planted dozens of acres of chili peppers, and the harvest has been very good. We can also take care of our elderly parents and children at home."

Lèng Yáng said in surprise, "Dàyǒnggē, you have a child?"

Zhang Dayong excitedly said: "Of course, my brother! I'm a winner in life. Not only do I have a beautiful wife, but I also have both children. You guys should work hard too!"

I chuckled awkwardly, and Leng Yang laughed heartily, saying, "It's too early for me. We'll talk about finding a wife later."

Zhang Dayong said with a smile, "It's okay, but you can fall in love in college. Don't meet your sister-in-law like I did during my most destitute time, it was hard..."

"Hmm!"

"Well, I'm going to find a wife as good as my sister-in-law."

Upon hearing this, the three people had three different thoughts, but in the car, they were happy and joyful...

After getting off the bus, Zhang Dayong hurried home, leaving without a word.

I pushed open the wooden gate of the courtyard. Grandpa heard the sound of the car and came out of the room. The moment I saw Grandpa, a smile couldn't help but appear on my face. "Grandpa, I'm back!"

Grandpa looked at me happily, and excitedly came forward to take my hand and said, "You're finally back! Come home quickly, I've cooked dinner. You must be hungry."

I nodded, and grandpa pulled me into the house. I stopped and said, "Wait a minute, grandpa, let me introduce you to someone."

"Where is it?"

"He's right behind me!" I turned around but couldn't see Leng Yang's figure. I gently let go of my grandfather's hand and said, "Grandpa, wait for me, he might be shy."

"This child, what's there to be ashamed of," the grandfather whispered.

My heart is also full of doubt, oS: "What's going on? Is this a plot from a TV drama? Or are you trying to create mystery? Shouldn't I be happy to see my grandfather?"

I walked to the wooden fence and saw Leng Yang standing there blankly, with no expression on his face, like a lost child. I wondered what he was thinking at this moment. I felt so sorry for him. I walked up to him and said, "What's wrong? Why don't you come in?"

Leng Yang rolled his eyes and said to me, "It's nothing, I'm just too happy."

"Grandpa will be happier. He has missed you so much. Come on, let's go in together."

I put on a happy smile and skipped over to grandpa's side and said, "Grandpa, he's here."

Leng Yang walked slowly from the side of the wall. For some reason, the camera followed suit and slowed down. Every step Leng Yang took was filled with immense determination. His gaze remained fixed on his grandfather. I watched as his eyes became slightly red, transitioning from joy to emotion to grievance. If not for the restraint in his expression, I felt he would have broken down crying any moment.

In Leng Yang's eyes, the old man before him hadn't changed much in appearance. He was just hunched over more, his skin looser, with more age spots. But the only thing that remained unchanged was his gentleness. His eyes always revealed infinite concern and love for us.

I supported my grandfather, and my grandfather looked at the cold ocean in front of him. When his eyes met mine, his body trembled involuntarily. Perhaps his heart skipped a beat. This was a wish he had held for so many years! Finally realized, all the longing in his heart poured out at once. My grandfather looked at the tall Cold Ocean in front of him. Wasn't this the little kid who used to call "Grandpa Qin"? Grandpa's thoughts were countless, and too many memories flooded up at once. Even the face of Grandpa Leng, which he had forgotten for a long time, came back to him.

The grandfather gazed intently at the boy in front of him. Leng Yang stood before his grandfather, motionless, just looking at him with a pitiful expression. Images of that dark-skinned little boy flashed through his grandfather's mind. His grandfather reached out and took Leng Yang's hand, tears welling up in his eyes with excitement. "Child, you're finally home,"

This action made Leng Yang's eyes well up with tears, big drops rolling down her cheeks and the corners of her eyes, landing on the roots of her ears. Leng Yang couldn't speak, she just felt a lump in her throat, even if she had complete words to say, she couldn't say them at this moment.

Grandfather raised his hand, coldly arched his back and bent down. Grandfather gently wiped his tears and said, "Yangyang, don't cry. It's good to be back, good boy."

Then he tightly hugged Leng Yang and said, "Yangyang, Grandpa misses you so much!" Leng Yang greedily enjoyed this warmth, refusing to let go. He put his head on his grandfather's shoulder, pressing closely against his head, and choked out, "I'm sorry, Grandpa Qin, I'm late."

Grandpa patted his back and comforted him, "It's not too late, Yangyang, it's good that you're back."
