I was born in a remote mountain village in Northeast China, named Linzhuang.

Every village is a book, recording countless amazing stories.

Some people say that you should be kind to the fool in the village because he is the guardian of the village.

Whether or not he is a guardian deity, I don't know. But I am definitely the fool, a very 'normal' fool.

When I was twelve years old, I had a high fever that wouldn't go away. Although I survived, from that day on, I started wandering the streets and laughing foolishly non-stop. I became a complete fool.

Actually, I'm clear about everything in my heart, but it's like something is holding me back. What I express and what I see can't be understood by others.

"Hey, you idiot, here, have a fish to eat!"

Hehe...

I hate my little giggles, and I know this silly laugh comes from deep within me.

I think this is how I greet people.

Several mischievous boys in the village were swimming in the dam, their shoulders exposed, revealing their strong arms.

There was a child in the village whose name was Huzi. He carried a grass carp, palm-sized, and walked up to me. He opened my pants and threw the fish inside.

Cold and sticky...

Hehehe...

My laughter remained the same, and they also sent back normal-sounding hahas.

"You fool, quickly take it home to stew it, don't let it bite you!"

I usually have a silly and endearing smile, but at this moment, my face suddenly grew serious. I slowly raised my arm and extended my index finger.

The little rascals, including Tiger cub, were all taken aback by my appearance. After all, I'm usually a bit clueless most of the time.

"Tiger brother, what's wrong with this fool?"

"Let him go, the fish are swimming!"

"No, we can't go down, there is, there..."

I desperately want to tell them, don't go into the water.

Because I saw, a man with blood flowing, sweaty palms, grabbed the tiger's ankle.

My throat feels like it's making gurgling noises, but I can't quite put it into words.

"Don't go, Black, Black shadow... Alas, it will harm you."

"What the heck, ignore him, I'll give that idiot some crabs later!"

The man's hair was long, and the water droplets fell from it with a soft patter.

His face was submerged and doughy, twisted into an unrecognizable form. His eyes hung in their sockets like they were glued there.

There are several holes on it, oozing with fresh blood. It is hunched over, and a large stone is still tied to its feet.

He was looking at me, grinning ferociously, his face even more contorted.

I wasn't afraid, I just shook my head frantically, trying to stop him. But he, accompanied by the sound of Tiger splashing into the water, disappeared before me.

I can see many things, some things that others cannot see.

I want to express that, whether it's clear or vague, no one will believe it.

This idiot is making me angry.

The tiger cub floated on the water, and told two of his little friends about my serious face just now.

"Just tease him, don't worry about it. Don't let Old Yu know, or he'll get us all in trouble."

Huzi let out a sly giggle. “Can’t let Father know, silly as he is, and can’t let my own father know either. If my father found out I came back to the reservoir for fish, he'd kill me!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Huzi's head went underwater with a splash, bubbles rising continuously.

"This little rascal is still up to his tricks!"

The two friends didn't care, they were companions who had played together for a long time, and they understood each other implicitly.

"Up, up, let go, let him go…"

I waved my hands frantically on the shore. I could also see underwater, that man dragging the tiger’s ankle relentlessly.

After half a minute, the two friends in the water realized something was wrong. The splashes were getting bigger and Tiger was flapping his limbs frantically!

"Tiger!"

Two half-grown children jumped into the water all at once, trying to pull Tiger out!

But no matter how hard they try, it's useless.

I looked around and picked up a long pole, handing it to someone in the water.

"Ghost, ghost!"

One of the little boys, seeing something unknown, suddenly popped out of the water and grabbed the pole I had handed him. He struggled desperately toward the shore.

Another person, realizing the gravity of the situation, also panicked. After much effort to no avail, he too scrambled to the shore in a disheveled state.

As for Tiger, he never came up.

The two boys were out of breath and pale, knowing they were in trouble.

"Fool, idiot, go, go quickly!"

I ran, my gait rather awkward, twisting and turning as I made my way toward the village.

The village is so small that even if you don't know someone, you've probably seen them.

I don't even need to say, it is well-known by all.

"Nephew, why are you running so fast? What's the matter?"

"The reservoir, it drowned... everyone."

I understand that Tiger's situation is gone, so I'll keep it simple!

"What did you say? Dead, who died!"

Looking at me for a long time, unable to say a word, the men in the village didn't dare hesitate, and immediately shouted at the head of the village!

The old men all went with me to the reservoir. Yu Jia's boy said that someone drowned!

All of them were from the same village. Hearing this news, every household sent people to rush to the reservoir.

I was also dazed and confused, sort of trailing behind. I got back to the reservoir.

Where is everyone?

What I'm saying is not about Huzi, he's definitely under the water. It's his two playmates who have disappeared, leaving only their long poles on the shore.

The sound of splashing water was incessant, and the strong men jumped into the reservoir one after another, starting to fish!

On the riverbank, men and women whispered amongst themselves, learning about the incident. They even knew it was I who sent a letter to the village.

There was a man there who seemed to be very afraid of the reservoir. He kept his distance, and that man was Tiger's father.

A few minutes later, a man surfaced and shouted loudly, "Lao Wang, your son!"

"What, my son!"

Old Wang rushed out from the rear immediately, stumbled, and landed on the bank.

Only a few men were seen pulling a corpse out of the water, it was Tiger...

"You good-for-nothing wastrel, wake up!"

Several men immediately pressed down on the tiger's mouth, but it was still useless. Finally, they shook their heads helplessly at Old Wang.

What on earth is going on? How could my son be dead? Why is he here at the reservoir?!

Old Wang's eyes were red, and he wailed bitterly.

Meanwhile, two young boys ran over, sweating profusely!

"Uncle Wang, what happened to Huzi? Wasn't he going to play with Yu Laizi? Why is he here?"

Their eyes were all on me, and I could only keep waving my hands. It wasn't like that, but I couldn't say a word...
